Batman can summon the vehicle to his current location. Perhaps the most significant addition to the game (and maybe the most controversial) is a drivable Batmobile. The game also introduces enemy medics who will shield and revive fallen comrades. A new mechanic called “Dual Play” allows you to switch between Batman and one of his allies during certain portions of the game, even during combat. For example, Batman can now carry out attacks on prone enemies (enemies on the ground) without interrupting the current combo streak. If you are a fan of the fighting mechanics from the previous games, then you will not be disappointed with Batman: Arkham Knight. The combat system is as fluid as ever with some changes. Some new gadgets make an appearance as well such as a voice synthesizer that can be used to imitate other characters’ voices. However, the Disrupter received some significant upgrades and is now a rifle that can be used to disable or detonate enemy weapons. Detective vision, remote hacking and the Disruptor make a return as well. Batman still uses the grapnel gun, line launcher and batarangs. The gameplay is similar to its predecessors with a number of elements making a return. Batman is free to roam the open world without restriction right out of the gate.
The main setting for the game is, our course, Gotham City and far more of the city is accessible than in previous installments.
Like the games that came before it (with the exception of Arkham Asylum) it is an open world action-adventure game. After all, who doesn’t like Batman? And how can you say no an open world game that features Batman? The answer: you can’t, or at least you shouldn’t. Since the release of Batman: Arkham Asylum in 2009, the Batman: Arkham series has seen both commercial and critical success.
